Homesteading and motherhood isn't about perfection-it's about growth, learning, and doing your best with what you have.

The fifth-season of Motherhood: May-Cember

Welcome to the unofficial fifth season of parenting also being referred to as May-Cember. It is the time of year where the calendar is busting at the seems with field day, and soccer practices, donuts with grown-ups and more soccer practices. It is an exciting time of year for your kids but you are just secretly racing for that finish line!.

I have completely lost track of the amount of Sign Up Genius’s I’ve gotten and have become a full time Uber driver on top of my already full time job. At this point family dinner plan is whatever can be eaten cold or in the car between gymnastics practice #1 and soccer game #2.

Here’s to the MVPs of May-Cember:

  • The coffee that fuels you through a day of getting kids to multiple places on time at what feels like at the same time,
  • The group text with fellow moms venting about our kids’ feral behaviors and coordinate carpools at the same time.
  • The coaches and teachers who somehow stay patient while our kids are collectively losing their minds (and water bottles).

You’re in the homestretch Mama

Let’s be honest, this season is exhausting and messy but also kind of beautiful. Was I really going to sit at a spa for Mother’s Day? Maybe 15 years from now, but at this moment in my life, pacing the sidelines is where I’d rather be (and maybe with a mom drink!) There’s something sweet about watching your kid fill their cup with what they love. These little humans have grown so much since the fall, and even if it feels like we don’t have enough gas to get to summer break, us moms do what we do best and we make it happen.

So here’s to all my fellow May-cember moms — rocking a week of dry shampoo, holding a bouquet of wrinkled art projects, and holding it mostly together. We are 2 weeks away!
